Nov. 4 – New York, Washington, San Francisco and Philadelphia: Italian cinema seduces in the US. A few months after The Great Beauty’s success at the Academy Awards, Italy’s movie industry makes a comeback with NICE: New Italian Cinema Events. In New York, screenings will take place November 17-20, in Washington on November 20, in San Francisco November 19-23, and in Phildelphia December 4-8. NICE is a cultural non-profit organization founded in 1991 by a group of professionals who organize some of the most important Italian film events abroad. The aim of the association is to promote contermporary Italian cinema worldwide through the organization of festivals and cultural exchanges. Each year, NICE organizes festivals in the United States, Russia (Moscow, St. Petersburg and, in collaboration with the Foundation for Social and Cultural Initiatives, in the satellite cities of Kursk, Tambov, Vologda, Lipstek, Serghiev Posad, Kazan, Vladivostok, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarks, Sochi, Novi Urengoy, Kaliningrad, Perm, Salehkard, Samara, and Togliatti), the UK (Durham) and China (Beijing). The American event, which takes place every year between November and December, was the first to be established and lasts the longest (the first edition took place in New York in 1991), followed by Russia, which takes place in March and April.
