Sunnyvale – The research team from the University of Siena led by Professor Domenico Prattichizzo was awarded one of the prestigious “Intuitive Surgical Technology Research Grants 2015”, research awards conferred by the Californian Intuitive Surgical to support technological research in field of surgical robotics and related fields. The winning project concerns the development of a finger stall that will be integrated in the da Vinci surgical robot. This will enhance the development of new robotic touch devices that will, in turn, improve robotic surgical procedures. The project, undertaken in collaboration with the University of Pennsylvania, passed the last and most selective evaluation phase, and will be one of the few funded outside the United States.
