Nov. 27 – “We are among the finalists along with companies with revenues well above our own, and with a much stronger communication network. We are very happy to have participated; the awards ceremony was an event of great media impact that gave us great visibility at the European level,” commented Francesca Carpita and Marta Simoncini of Iur.Ap, a spin-off company of the University of Pisa in charge of innovation, training and research for administrations. In recent days, Brussels hosted the final of “.eu Web Awards,” a competition launched by EURid to reward the best websites with a .eu extension. In the “Laurels” category – Children’s Education / Institutional / Pan European ongoing project – there was also Iur.Ap. The European registry EURid, manager of the .eu domain in Europe, has over 3 million registered names. There were over 100 sites registered in the selections for the five categories, with a prize of €5,000 for the winners. The winner was Eu Training, an established reality to prepare for entry exams to European institutions. But for Iur.Ap this was an important opportunity to gain visibility; the event, held at the Museum of Natural Sciences in Brussels, saw the participation of institutional guests, such as the outgoing Vice-President of the European Commission, Viviane Reding, as well as entertainment personalities such as tennis player Flavia Pennetta and singer Kim Wilde. “We thank Eurid for the excellent organization and the support received, and we thank our hosting provider, Register – said Carpita and Simoncini – as well as the University of Pisa and the Department of Political Science: we hope to have held high the reputation of Pisan institutions.” (PO / Gil)
