Dec. 12 – Photographs, scale models, projects, and those works that left their mark… All this in a two-day long event on Italian architecture and its biggest players, held in Tirana today and tomorrow. The experience, which gathers experts and historians, is part of the planned activities of the Italian Presidency of the EU Council. The Embassy of Italy and the Italian Cultural Institute of Tirana (in collaboration with various Albanian and Italian institutions and universities) organized the conference and the series of architectural exhibitions around the theme “on the trail of Italy in Albania.” The goal is to enhance the contribution that Italian architects gave in Albania, such as Armando Brasini, Florestano Di Fausto, Vittorio Ballio Morpurgo, and Gherardo Bosio in 1925-43. Their works will be the topic of a conference and a series of exhibitions held in the same buildings they designed. Furthermore, the event will air the video made by director Roland Sejko with archive material from the Istituto Luce and the Central State Film Archive and a pocket guide bilingual (Albanian and Italian) on the monumental buildings built by the Italians in Tirana. The initiative extends also to the field of contemporary architecture and offers the opportunity to present the projects for various Albanian cities carried out by some of the most famous Italian architects, who are participating in the conference and will exhibit their work.
