Dec. 15 – The first stage of the Champions and Europe League is now complete, and so it’s time to move on to the draw, which takes place in Nyon today, that will mark the 2015 European fate of 6 Italian teams: Juventus in the Champions League, Roma, Napoli, Fiorentina, Inter and Torino in the ‘minor’ tournament. Despite the Giallorossi downgrading from the Champions to the Europe League, Italy still reached a new record: it’s the only country that is yet to suffer from an elimination. Italy entered the tournament with six teams in the running, and six Italian teams are still in it, much like Spain, England and Germany, which are all ahead of us in the UEFA ranking. This isn’t the only nice record made by an Italian in this year’s tournament: Francesco Totti became the oldest scorer in the competition’s history by scoring against Manchester City on the second day. The Roma captain scored again on 25 November with a goal against CSKA Moscow at the age of 38 years and 59 days. On the website of the UEFA, there is a short clip on the nets scored in Europe by the Captain.
