Strasbourg – The protection of human rights has been at the center of a long conversation between the MEP of the Movimento 5 Stelle Laura Ferrara and Nils Muižnieks, Commissioner for Human Rights at the Council of Europe. “The meeting is crucial for the submission of the yearly European Parliament report on the issue, and of which I will be rapporteur – said the MEP – This report will outline how austerity policies implemented by Europe strongly affected the protection of fundamental rights.” Among the topics discussed during the meeting, there were “the need to ensure greater protection and give a stronger power to agencies like the Fondamental Rights Agency.” (9Colonne)
