Jan. 30 – The great cinema of Italy continues to amaze at the Italian Cultural Institute of Lisbon. The seventh edition of “Cinema Sunday – an encounter with the contemporary Italian cinema” screens this Sunday at 7pm “Viva la libertà.” Teatro do Bairro opens its doors to the film by Roberto Andò, starring Toni Servillo and Valerio Mastandrea. The film, released in 2013, will have subtitles in Portuguese. The brilliant parody of Italian politics tells the story of Enrico Oliveri, secretary of the main opposition party, in a crisis because the polls for the upcoming elections do not favor his side. One evening, after a long debate, Oliveri disappears without a trace. His assistant, Andrea Bottini, and his wife, Anna, begin to investigate the disappearance of the Secretary. The only solution they find to avoid the electoral defeat is to replace Olivieri with his twin brother, Giovanni Ernani, a brilliant philosopher who suffers from a bipolar disorder. The review “Cinema Sunday – an encounter with the contemporary Italian cinema” is organized by the Italian Cultural Institute in collaboration with the “Il Sorpasso” association of Lisbon. The next film to be screened, on February 15, is “Il Capitale Umano” by Paolo Virzi.
