Feb. 24 – “Out of the Box” is an exhibition prepared by sculptor and painter Silvia Tuccimei, on display at the Italian Cultural Institute in Sydney from March 5 to April 10. The artist also participated with one of her works in the 2013 edition of “Sculpture by the Sea”, an annual exhibition staged along the seaside walk between the very popular beaches of Bondi and Tamarama in the Australian city. “Silvia Tuccimei was born in Rome in 1960 – reads the presentation note by the Italian Cultural Institute – In 1983 she graduated from the School Centre for Artistic Industries of Lugano, Switzerland, and later moved to Paris, where she worked for 10 years in the atelier of sculptor Angel-Perez. Here, she could pursue her interest in the human form and geometric shapes. The Parisian setting also prompted the artist to redefine the use of lines, forms and colors in a way that gradually removed the layers of the known world to expose the underlying fragility of life.” For over 25 years, Silvia Tuccimei has explored this theme, with her paintings and sculptures, earning an international reputation that make her works highly demanded all over the world.
