Mar. 9 – The Italian brand Family Audit is the only project made in Italy presented at the 59th Session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, scheduled in New York at the United Nations Headquarters. The session serves as a moment to reflect and evaluate progress, identify challenges and formulate concrete policies to promote women’s empowerment and gender equality. On March 11-12, the Commission will be joined by a delegation of the Department for Family Policies of the Italian Presidency of the Council, composed by director Giuseppe Di Donato and Dr. Emanuela Bruni, together with a delegation from the Autonomous Province of Trento, composed of Councilor Sara Ferrari and the manager of the Family Agency Luciano Malfer. The main objective is to evaluate the results achieved under the Beijing Declaration – 20 years after its adoption in 1995 during the 4th World Conference on Women – and to outline current challenges regarding the implementation and achievement of gender equality, their level of empowerment and, in parallel, the development of family policies. The Italian Department organized two side events: “Men and boys against gender stereotypes and violence against women” (March 11) and ‘The Impact of the Family Audit certification – Productivity, Well-being and Gender policies “(March 12). The latter event will see the participation of Councilor Ferrari and Malfer, and is addressed in particular to all public and private entities involved in drafting legislation and developing policies, strategies and action plans to promote mainstreaming gender and family welfare. Ferrari and Malfer will intervene during the session dedicated to corporate welfare, which is founded on the premise that “making use of life balance policies, public and private agencies can help attract and retain talent, improve job satisfaction, and promote employee welfare, all of which are important preconditions for better competitiveness, business growth and sustainable development. Lower employment rates for women are often a result of the greater female participation in family life and children education, which makes it harder for women to reconcile having a family and a career.” The Family Audit brand addresses these needs.
