Mar. 12 – The European project “Grage – Grey and green in Europe: elderly living in urban areas,” promoted by the University of Macerata and funded by the EU with more than €800.000 within the Horizon 2020 program, has officially begun. The kick-off meeting was held in Brussels, bringing together the ten partners that for the next 48 months will create an interdisciplinary study on the challenges of aging and sustainable development in urban areas. The delegation of the University of Macerata, led by Professor Francesca Spigarelli, explained in detail the design and plan, in the presence of delegates from the European Commission. The occasion also served as the launch platform for the project’s website, grageproject.eu, “made in Marche”, created thanks to a collaboration between the University of Macerata and a School Institute of Castelfidardo. The high school students worked on the Internet platform within a vocational program promoted by the school. The main focus of research covers the study of policies adopted by various Member States on active aging; but it will also analyze social, regulatory, economic, technological elements related to various aspects of active aging in urban areas. These include: green urbanization, food sustainability, and the behavioral analysis of the elderly in the city. (Red)
