Mar. 13 – What is the state of the Italian language in the Mediterranean? What is the point of learning Italian today? Is it a language that survives only as a cultural connotation or does it also gives a professional edge? An answer to these questions comes on March 25 to 11am during a meeting-debate organized by the Italian Cultural Institute in Valletta, in collaboration with the University of Malta. Held at Old Humanities Building of the University, the meeting gathers the secretary general of the Italian-speaking Broadcasting Community, Loredana Cornero, and Joseph Eynaud and Joseph Brincat, professors of the University of Malta. The event aims to bring to the attention of the academic community the themes that emerged during the conference “Italian at the fronter Italian, the language as a bridge between cultures in the Mediterranean,” held in December in Rome at the RAI headquarters. The conference was last of three meetings on the Italian language abroad, which took place in Switzerland and Croatia. (Paf)
