Mar. 23 – From today until March 28, the Italian agricultural world is in Canada to build and expand business relationships and seize new opportunities offered by the Canadian market. The Italian delegation is accompanied by Deputy Agricultural Minister, Andrea Olivero, and involves 45 companies from the food sector, and 20 from the wine and drinks industry, as well as a delegation of five major banking groups – which represent about 57% of the entire Italian banking world in terms of total assets. The mission, sponsored by the Ministries of Economic Development, Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Agriculture, Food and Forestry, is organized by the Italian Trade Agency for the promotion abroad and internationalization of Italian firms, as well as Confindustria, Abi, Rete Imprese Italia, Alleanza delle Cooperative and Unioncamere. Canada is an important trading partner in the food sector for Italy, thanks to the large community of Italian origin who, over the years, helped introduce a whole range of traditional Italian food products. The mission’s program includes three stops: in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, during which participating companies will have the opportunity to exhibit and offer tastings of their products to Canadian operators. Also scheduled are: visits to the state monopoly alcoholic beverages stores and retail chains; presentations on regulatory and marketing methods for food products in Canada; B2B meetings with opinion leaders and the press.
