Toronto – Research gives new hope to the treatment of renal cell carcinoma. The international journal “Science Translational Medicine” recently published the results of a study conducted at the Sunnybrook Research Institute of the University of Toronto and the Division of Pharmacology, Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine at the University of Pisa, which for the first time elaborated an effective therapy for treatment-resistant renal cancer. Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is a cancer normally considered resistant to traditional chemotherapy and is currently treated with targeted biological therapies, although unfortunately the effectiveness of these molecules is limited due to the intrinsic resistance acquired by the tumor cells.
