Brussels – The establishment of a permanent European roundtable to discuss and counter Xylella fastidiosa is what the President of the Puglia Region Nichi Vendola discussed yesterday in Brussels with MEPs. The meeting was held in the presence of Ambassador Stefano Sannino, Permanent Representative of Italy to the European Union, and the head of the Mipaaf department Giuseppe Blasi. The meeting wanted to raise awareness among European parliamentarians and push them to work together to defend, at the European level, the Region and Italy’s interests. The meeting acknowledged the key role European institutions play in the management of Xylella fastidiosa, the bacterium that is creating serious damage to the olive sector in Puglia. (9colonne)
