Toronto – Research gives new hope to the treatment of renal cell carcinoma. The international journal “Science Translational Medicine” recently published the results of a study conducted at the Sunnybrook Research Institute of the University of Toronto, and the Division of Pharmacology of the Department of Clinical and Experimental Medicine at the University of Pisa. The study for the first time envisaged an effective therapy for renal cancer resistant to treatment. Renal cancer is normally considered resistant to traditional chemotherapy and is currently treated with targeted biological therapies, although unfortunately the effectiveness of these molecules is limited by the intrinsic resistance of the tumor cells.
