San Nicolas – Aprilia signed an agreement with Motomel to produce motorcycles in Argentina. The aim of the agreement is to enter the Argentinian market with a general product, affordable to most, to later present the high-end units. Motomel has a production capacity of 600,000 units / year, and its La Emilia plant – in San Nicolás, province of Buenos Aires – it will produce Aprilia bikes, one of the Piaggio Group brands alongside Vespa and Moto Guzzi. Production will begin with a model designed for Latin America: the Aprilia STX 150, an urban bike that will adapt to the growing demand of the local market for motorcycles. The second phase will see Aprilia bring to Argentina its top models Dorsoduro 750, Caponord 1200, RSV4 and a version of the scooter. Thanks to the agreement with Motomel, Aprilia has planned investments for around €1 million in the plant, where a new production line for engines with a capacity of 4,000 units per month will also take place.
