Apr. 29 – “Una gita in blu. Attilio Perrone Capano da Budapest alla Linea Gotica (1943-1945)” is the title of a book by Eva Framarino dei Malatesta that will be presented on Wednesday, 13 May (at 6pm) at the Italian Cultural Institute of Budapest, in the presence of the author and Ilona Fried of Elte University. The book – published by Trauben – tells the story of Attilio Perrone Capano, a young diplomat of the Italian Legation in Budapest, who in September 1943 made the anti-fascist choice that determined his fate. The author attempted to reconstruct the last days of his life, a little story within greater history. The research, which began with family records, took more than three years to complete at least a partial reconstruction of the varied historical events and atmospheres of Budapest. Eva Framarino dei Malatesta conducted her research on the public records of the Historical-Diplomatic Foreign Ministry, the Central State of Rome, and the Bundes Archives of Berlin, as well as in various private archives of religious bodies and of the heirs of the co-protagonists to the story. “Una gita in blu” can be defined as a historical novel that reconstructs the facts through rigorous analysis while adding a fictional narrative limited to the “Diary” of the protagonist, a figment of the author’s imagination.
