London – Italian pasta exports leaped by 4% in 2014, exceeding the 2 million tons threshold, for a total turnover of more than €2.2 billion. Pasta today weighs about 7% of the total export value of the food industry, and in the last 15 years, the ISMEA observes, shipments abroad have been continuous and in rapid growth. The export sector is mainly addressed to the EU market, where Germany, France and the UK have absorbed in 2014 almost 46% of national production shipped abroad. 2014 data reveals particularly sustained growth to the UK (+ 10% in volume on 2013), positive growth to Germany (+ 1%) and unchanged trends towards France.
