June 3 – “The Heaven of Italy reflected in the waters of the Danube” is an initiative dedicated to those Hungarian poets who lived and experienced Italy. The event is scheduled for June 9 at the Sala Federico Fellini of the Italian Cultural Institute in Budapest (for 6pm). The literary and musical evening features: Roberto Ruspanti, professor of Hungarian language and literature at the University of Udine; Szilvia Nyari, actress of the Theatre Csiky Gergely in Kaposvàr; and Annie Corrado on piano, who will perform works by Liszt, Bartók and Ligeti. The most beautiful poems dedicated to Italy, written by Hungarian authors like Kosztolànyi, Babits and Ady, will be read out loud. “Hungarian writers and poets and Italy are an old combination – reads the presentation statement of the Institute of Culture – Even when they didn’t write about Italy, they often drew inspiration from an imagined and dreamed Italy. The evening will be an opportunity to discover the range of feelings that Italy has always aroused among Hungarians.”
