London – The video for “1989”, the second single released by Negrita from their new album “9, is finally online. The album, which debuted at the top of the charts, was recently awarded the Golden Record. The video, directed by the London collective The Secret Family, was shot in the British capital along the Regent’s canal. Negrita are aboard a narrow boat, in a metaphorical journey through the circumstances that changed the world in 1989: the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Tiananmen Square protests in China, the history of music, and the social struggles of the period. The video puts in stark contrast the social contradictions of the time using symbols, Banksy quotes, and representative actions. (9Colonne)
