26 June, 2015 – “Paolo Di Paolo is a young writer and intellectual. His Mandami Tanta Vita is a novel that dissociates him from his peers and from the cadences of the historical novel. Di Paolo found in the figure of Piero Gobetti an important source of inspiration, because of Gobetti’s ideal charge, intellectual curiosity and politics.” This is Gad Lerner’s review of Mandami Tanta Vita (Salerno Libro d’Europa winner, Fiesole Prize winner, and finalist at the Strega Prize), a novel by Paolo Di Paolo, born in Rome in 1983. To celebrate the debut on the French market (for Belfond, Paris) of a book dedicated to Gobetti, and the new, large reprint of Gobetti’s works, the Italian Cultural Institute in Brussels is organizing a meeting on the Turin-native intellectual, star of the twentieth century. The event is scheduled for September 15 at the Institute. While Di Paolo’s novel recalls the Gobetti exiled in Paris to escape fascist persecutions, the reprint of Gobetti’s works by the Centro Studi Gobetti, the Committee for Edizioni Gobettiane and by Edizioni di Storia e Letteratura traces the author’s editorial profile, revealing numerous innovations in terms of biographical, intellectual and political elements.
