7 July, 2015 – Even in a time of crisis, Greece will not put aside its inclination for the arts and culture. One example is the Theatre of Herodes Atticus – a charming and fascinating place located on the southern slope of the Athens Acropolis – where on July 9 (at 9pm) with the support of the Italian Institute of Culture, there will be a tribute to the most beloved and well-represented Italian artist in Greece: Dario Fo. Greek artist Stamatis Kraunakis (known musician and playwright) in collaboration with Lina Nikolakopoulou (musician and songwriter) will stage, as part of the Festival of Athens 2015, the show “Avanti Dario – Life and Works of Dario Fo.” “There are many works from the Nobel Laureate – explains the Italian Institute of Culture – which have been translated and regularly brought to the stage in Greece. Kraunakis devoted two years of research to the realization of this project and personally met the Italian artist. Kraunakis describes him as an author with a young and fresh look on reality, with the perennial desire to stimulate, armed with satire, irony and paradox, the reaction of a healthy common sentiment in the face of what oppresses him.” The Italian Cultural Institute of Athens, which is supporting the show with its communication platform, intends, in collaboration with the Mihalis Cacoyannis Foundation, to continue supporting the project in its 2015-2016 season, to tribute one of the most significant and known figures of Italian theater.
