(Jul. 10) A cooperation project that unites Italy – Pisa, in particular – to France that aims to enhance the green economy and the sea through the promotion of sustainable and innovative tourism. This is the objective of the European project “Appui aux Réseaux Touristiques transfrontaliers (ART2)” in which the Department of Economics Management of the University of Pisa participated as the sole academic partner, with a research group composed of professors Daniele Dalli and Angela Tarabella and by doctors Iacopo Cavallini and Barbara Burchi. “Our task – said Cavallini, ART2 manager for the University of Pisa – was to map the scientific expertise in the area of study, which comprends Tuscany, Liguria, Sardinia and Corsica, and to open a channel between the world of research and tour operators through meetings and focus groups.” The study involved all the main types of tourism, from the seaside, to environmental, from nature to cultural in order to integrate maritime, coastal and inland areas across these territories. “The idea is to exploit the various sectors of tourism according to the logic of sustainability and social inclusion – Cavallini added – and the ART2 project, which will come to an end in the coming months, serves precisely to lay the foundations of the new program Interreg Italy-France Maritime 2014-2020”.
