Erbil – Italian military instructors of the “Erbil” Task Force, coordinated by the multinational Kurdish Training Coordination Center, under Italian command, have begun cooperating with US military instructors. The latter will explain the weapon systems that soon equip the Kurdish security forces. The training activity, coordinated by KTCC, sees the Italian, English, German, Dutch, Norwegian and Finnish military involved, as they will later train the Kurdish Peshmerga at the request of the Kurdish representatives at the Ministry of Peshmerga. Following the expansion of ISIL in Iraq and Syria, the US has created a Coalition of the Willing in which Italy also participates, in order to counter the jihadi threat by strengthening the Kurdish security forces.
