7 August 2015 – A strong presence in eight key countries of Europe (Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, Poland and Portugal) and a turnover of €140 billion, for a total of about 23,000 retail outlets involved: this is the goal of the newborn alliance between six European retailers, all market leaders. The ALIDIS alliance, originally made up of Eroski (Spain), Groupement des Mousquetaires (France) and Edeka (Germany), now also includes Colruyt (Belgium), Conad (Italy) and Coop (Switzerland). The agreement, a milestone in commercial distribution, leads to the establishment of the largest international alliance between retailer market leaders in Europe, and opens new prospects for synergy and growth. It is also a fundamental understanding to ensure a broader and more solid presence in Europe to its members, united by a common strategic and long-term vision. The alliance will offer greater value to customers, thanks to a wider range of convenient products, and to suppliers opening up new market opportunities, greater visibility and international growth.
