25 August, 2015 – A new season of partnerships between Italy and Iran has begun, following the lifting of sanctions and the opening up of the Iranian market. The Internationalization Commission of AEFI (Italian Association of Exhibitions and Fairs) has signed an agreement of understanding with Iran International Exhibitions Company, the most important trade fair organization in Iran. The signing took place in Milan, on the occasion of Iran’s National Day celebrations at Expo 2015. The agreement represents another important step promoted by AEFI in the internationalization process of the Italian trade fair sector: taking the opportunity of this new development phase for the Iranian market, AEFI wants to contribute to economic growth of the two countries by sharing its own experience in the organization of events dedicated to specific sectors and grasping the growing business opportunities offered by the Iranian economy. “The lifting of sanctions will have a positive impact on Italian exhibitions – said Ettore Riello, President of AEFI – Iran is a very important market for Italian companies, and with the end of the sanctions regime in the next 3 years Italian export are expected to register a € 2-3 billion increase. The agreement therefore constitutes a first important signal in this direction and will offer new and increasing growth opportunities for Italian companies. The aim is to step up and more than double the trade promotion activities developed so far.”
