September 1, 2015 – Aerospace Made in Italy steps it up with the Miami Scientific Italian Community and the Consorzio Roma Ricerche. The MSIC, with the support of the Consulate General of Italy in Miami, is promoting the project Cropp (Coltures Risks and Prevention Observation Platform), coordinated by. Professor Paolo Gaudenzi of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at La Sapienza University, and developed by a team of nine students from the same university, taking part in a university-level competition organized by NASA. The group passed the pre-selection phase, managing to win the International Space Apps Challenge in the category “Galactic Impact” with a video of the project. “The expertise of Italian researchers is an intangible asset of fundamental importance for the development of our economic system and needs the constant support of our institutions,” said Fabio De Furia, Executive Vice President of the Miami Scientific Italian Community and President of the Consorzio Roma Ricerche. The group of students – who will also be rewarded by the US Embassy in Italy, sponsor of the event – was invited by NASA tomorrow to visit the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral. On this occasion the Miami Scientific Italian Community, in line with its mission to aggregate the Italian scientific community present in Florida and to promote Italy-USA collaborations through academic and scientific institutions, will organize a series of meetings between institutions, universities and research centers, to promote and support the research and development activities of the 9 students.
