Herat – The national and provincial Afghan authorities and the Italian ambassador to Afghanistan, Luciano Pezzotti, attended the inauguration at the end of the construction works for the first batch (20.4 km) of the ring road of Herat City, financed by Italy. The ceremony was attended, among others, by the Ministers of Public Works and Mines, Baleegh Mahmud and Daud Shah Saba, and the Governor of Herat, Mohammad Asif Rahimi. Ambassador Pezzotti, for his part, explained that “the overall project involves the construction of a bypass of the length of 45 kilometers, which will connect the city of Herat to the highway to Kandahar and Kabul. This will facilitate regional links with Iran and Turkmenistan.” As the Italian ambassador confirmed, “this is not the last project in the Herat province, and Italy will continue to support Afghanistan.” (9colonne)
