Rabat – On Tuesday, September 29 at 6:30pm, the Italian Cultural Institute of Rabat hosts the conference “The marble statues of Roman Morocco”, by Emanuele Papi, Professor of Classical Archaeology at the University of Siena. The conference will tell the story of the oldest statues of Morocco, which were carved at the time of the king Juba II and Ptolemy (25 BC – 40 AD), to celebrate the monarchs. The marble was imported from Greece and the statues were probably transported from the workshops of Caesarea in Mauritania, the capital of the Kingdom (now Cherchell in Algeria). (9Colonne)
