November 3rd, 2015 – Emilia-Romagna, supported by Aster (a company that promotes innovation in the regional production system) launched the program “AsterinUsa” a garrison in the Silicon Valley to support Emilia-Romagna start-ups that want internationalize their market, seeking new funding and increasing their skills. For now, the activity is focused on the study of the services and opportunities that will be offered in 2016 to start-ups from the region. The first result is the selection of 10 start-ups that will participate for free at the Silicon Valley Tvlp Express in Menlo Park (8-15 November). The initiative wants to help start-ups develop a business idea, increase their skills and acquire what is known as the “Silicon Valley mindset”. The program consists of lectures by teachers and professors from leading universities in America, networking events and visits to incubators and companies in the Silicon Valley. In the schedule, there is also one major institutional event: on November 6, the President of the Emilia Romagna Stefano Bonaccini will visit the Tech Shop in San Francisco, followed by a meeting in the Consulate. The Silicon Valley represents a virtuous economic ecosystem, where collaboration between innovative start-ups, universities and investors has created the most attractive hub for leading high-tech companies in the world. The region is the world center for the creation of innovative start-ups: here, in 1939, the first civilian electronics company was born, Hewlett-Packard, founded by two graduates of Stanford University; the same university, in the 1950s, created the Stanford Research Park incubator, where Facebook, Twitter, Google, Tesla, Uber, Google and Apple are based. And who knows if this list in the near future, won’t add someone else from Emilia Romagna.
