November 12th 2015 – The dialogue between Umbria and China is growing in many ways, from the economic aspects to the cultural ones. November 15-20, the Vice President of the Region and Councilor for Enterprise Competitiveness, Fabio Paparelli, will lead a mission to Chongqing and Chengdu, in southwest China, two of the most dynamic and populous realities in the Asian country. The mission wants to create new opportunities for exchanges between China’s and Umbria’s institutions, companies, the University and education system, and tourism and to verify the possibility of hosting a future edition of Umbria Jazz in Shanghai. The initiative was presented at Palazzo Donini in Perugia, during a meeting that saw the participation of Vice President Paparelli, the president of Confindustria Umbria Ernesto Cesaretti, the director of Sviluppumbria Mauro Agostini, and Elena Stanghellini from the Department of Economics of the University of Perugia. The mission was prepared in recent months by an Umbrian delegation that explored Chongqing, Chengdu and Shanghai, and identified several areas of interest, as well as by more defining moments of Expo in Milan and the visit a Chinese delegation to Umbria last August. With the cooperation of Confindustria Umbria and Umbria Export, companies involved in various sectors (food, packaging, environment, mechanics) have been involved in the initiative and will participate in the mission to explore the many business opportunities offered by these areas of China, where the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently opened a new Consulate to expand the geographical horizon of Italy-China relations.
