December 17th, 2015 – Tunis is currently hosting the International Theatre Festival for Children, which will see on Sunday, December 20 (at 11am) Venetian puppeteers Paolo Papparotto and Mariacristina Marin take the stage of the Maison de la Culture Ibn Rachiq. The Italian duo will present “La Strega Rosega Ramarr”. The show is currently being advertised by the Italian Institute of Culture in Tunis, which stresses how this is not the first time that the Venetian puppeteers are presenting their productions abroad. In these years, the company participated in international festivals in Seville, Barcelona, Madrid, and Dubai, in Poland, Iran, Croatia, Slovenia, Turkey, the Czech Republic, Colombia, and Hungary, as well as Florida and Mexico. Their show, “Arlecchino e la strega Rosega Ramarri” was nominated to the World festival in Prague in 2007 in the category “best show for children” and “Best Art Direction and puppets”. Paolo Papparotto started working with puppets in 1979, and in 1982 he began specializing on puppets and traditional Venetian Commedia dell’Arte as a soloist puppeteer. Thus began a long process of rediscovery of ancient and modern techniques and of the authentic characters behind Venetian masks. Mariacristina Marin joined the company in 1998. (PO / red)
