Algiers – The head of the Humanitarian Aid Directorate General for Development Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mario Baldi was accompanied by a representative of the Italian Embassy in Algiers – Dr. Celli – to visit the refugee camps in the desert region of Tindouf, on the border between Algeria and Morocco. The visit of the refugee camp of Dakhla – the most affected by the heavy flooding that occurred in mid-October – allowed to witness the harshness of living conditions for refugees: school activities are held in temporary facilities, carried out by UNICEF and UNHCR also thanks to the contributions of the Italian Cooperation, while subsistence food is highly dependent on food rations distribution by the World Food Programme.
