Addis Ababa – Today, the shortest day of the year, brings together Italian Cultural Institutes around the world under the same initiative: “Short Film Day,” an event to shed light on quality short films. The initiative, born in France in 2011 by the National Centre for Cinematography et de l’Image Animée, spread rapidly throughout Europe and today comes to affect more than fifty countries worldwide. For the Short Film Day 2015, the National Short Film Centre of Turin created a program of 7 Italian short films that will be screened simultaneously across Italian cities and, thanks to the network of Italian Cultural Institutes, in 19 cities around the world. “This is the first time that Italian short films travel so massively outside national borders, with a 90-minute program that wants to open a small window on young Italian cinema,” reads a note from the Italian Cultural Institute in Lisbon. The program includes “L’attesa del maggio” by Simone Massi (2014); “La salita” by Francesca Barison (2015); “E.t.e.r.n.i.t” by Giovanni Aloi (2015); “Lo so che mi senti” by Francesca Mazzoleni (2014); “Mamma mia” by Milena Tipaldo and Francesca Marinelli (2014); “Ménage à trois” by Emanuele Daga (2015); and “Frankie” by Francesco Mazza (2015).
