(12 January 2016) Total trade between the Lombardy Region and Cameroon amounts to €43 million, representing 18.4% of the Italian total. This according to an evaluation of the Milan Chamber of Commerce on Istat data (on a comparison of data relative to September 2015 and September 2014). The more active provinces are Milan with €25 million (58% of the regional total) and Varese (€8 million and 19% of the regional total). Regional exports to Cameroon were worth over €21 million for the first nine months of 2015 (+ 11% in one year), in addition to some €22 million in import. The province that exports the most is Varese with €8 million, followed by Milan with €5 million; Mantua, Monza and Brianza, and Brescia come after with €1.4 million each. Milan captures the vast majority of regional imports with 92%. Among the main products to be exported there is general-purpose machinery, which reached €9 million. Promos, the special agency of the Milan Chamber of Commerce for international activities, has thus decided to organize a trade mission in Cameroon from 29 February to 4 March for small and medium-sized companies of the following sectors: agri-business and agriculture (technology and machinery agriculture, food processing and storage), energy and renewable energy (solar, biomass, wind power), infrastructure (ports, transport, public works), healthcare, and telecommunications. The Agency has scheduled meetings with government representatives, representatives from funded projects and representatives of the World Bank, African Development Bank and the United Nations. Other events will include networking activities with local businesses and institutions. (Red)
