Chennai – The Professional Association Assomac and the ITA Office in New Delhi are organizing Italy’s participation at the IILF 2015 fair. To be held in Chennai Feburary 1-3, the Fair represents the Indian leather market, the fifth largest global exporter of finished leather, making the tanning and processing industry for hides and skins one of the most important manufacturing sectors in the country. In turn, this offers many opportunities to the Italian machinery sector, considering the amount of raw materials: 21% of the world population of cattle and buffalo and 11% of sheep; with a 2 billion square feet of leather produced each year, while the footwear industry is second in the world, second only to China for production volumes, producing around 2 million pairs of shoes annually.
