(8 February 2016) The Jubilees, organized by the Catholic Church from 1330 to the present day, are more than a great spiritual event, having always offered extraordinary opportunities for the creation of priceless works of art by the greatest artists of all time. The seminar organized by the Italian Cultural Institute of Munich and Forum Italia eV, entitled “The Art of Jubilees in Rome from 1300 to the Present”, wants to briefly trace the history of past Jubilees and dwell, over four lessons, on some of the most significant art works from different historical periods. Each session will be accompanied by illustrative material (photographs, maps, prints) useful to better understand the works. The seminar was created in its contents by Massimo De Angelis, an architect who has been working for many years in the field of architectural restoration. De Angelis collaborates with various institutes and universities on the history of architecture, in particular with the Pontifical University Antonianum in Rome, and has to his credit several publications. Most recently, in 2015 De Angelis curated an art-historical guide on the Jubilee of Mercy. The seminar is divided into four events: the first, scheduled on March 1, deals with the 1300-1423 period (Middle Ages and Early Renaissance); the second, scheduled for March 8, with the 1450-1575 period (Renaissance and Mannerism); on March 15, the lecture will focus on the 1600-1775 period (Baroque); finally, on April 5, the session will be dedicated to the 1800-2015 period (Neoclassical and Contemporary). All events will take place from 5.30pm to 7.30pm and will be held at the Italian Cultural Institute. (Red)
