(11 February 2016) How does one create a network to promote Italian culture – and more generally, the Italian system – in Mexico? This is the question that was answered by the Italian Embassy in Mexico City in a meeting organized a few days ago with representatives of the Italian institutions and cultural associations (the Italian Cultural Institute, the Dante Alighieri Society and Academia de Florencia) and some Italian companies. The Italian Representation in Mexico City took the chance to present the cultural program for 2016 in “the first meeting – reads a note – organized by the Embassy to develop synergies with the private sector and create a calendar of events that is of mutual benefit, because it expands from its mere cultural nature into the economic and scientific spheres”. Ambassador Alessandro Busacca pointed out that “such events may become the subject of total or partial funding, or may even receive a contribution from Italian companies that would like to enjoy the visibility that these events provide through adequate coverage in the local media.” In particular, companies that sponsor an initiative can gain visibility through the publication of their logos in event materials, advertising materials and have their products on display at the event… The Italian Embassy will also evaluate the possibility to rely on a communications agency that will give greater visibility to Italian culture. “The cultural program – continues the statement from the Embassy – remains open to those proposals coming from firms that wish to give their inputs for the realization of additional events. In addition, the Residence and the Italian Cultural Institute are available at moderate renting fees for the realization of events directly organized by the companies. ” The cultural program will also involve areas outside the capital, where the Italian system is less known and accessible.
