Sydney – On 24-25 February, the Italian Institute of Culture in Sydney will host the Italian Dance Classes of the 15th Century organized by the cultural association “Il Convivio”. The course, which will be held by Japanese dancer and researcher Chieko Ono, will be divided into a laboratory and a master class and will be open not only to the dancers and “Renaissance” specialists, but also to amateurs. The masterclass will focus on practicing previously unpublished dances, reconstructed through the original treatises on the art of dance. These documents can be found today in various Italian libraries and around the world (under the name of: Foligno, Siena, Modena, Paris… codes) and contain important information on the choreography, theories and sometimes the music of the time. Chieko Ono is the cultural director of the association “Il Convivio”. She founded the historical dance company “Belreguardo” that since 1993 creates events aimed to combine dance, music and acting in historical places. (9Colonne)
