Louisville – Finmeccanica, through its Helicopters Division, announced during Heli-Expo 2016 (held in Louisville, Kentucky) the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the American Era Group Inc., one of the largest helicopter operators in the world and the primary operator of AgustaWestland civil helicopters. The MoU stipulates a collaboration for the development of rescue helicopters configurations for the revolutionary AgustaWestland AW609 tiltrotor. “The agreement with one of Finmeccanica’s largest customers regarding helicopters – reads a note from the Group – is another step towards the development of the first tiltrotor program for commercial use in the world, able to combine typical helicopter advantages in terms of versatility and the ones typical of airplane regarding performance. Nearly 60 AW609 have been sold to date to customers around the world for diverse applications: SAR, patrolling, offshore and passenger transport.” (9Colonne)
