(9 March 2016) The Sardinian tourist offer is betting on the German market, so much so that from today until Sunday, the Region is attending the 50th ITB Berlin, a global leader as far as Travel Trade Shows are concerned. After Munich’s f.re.e Monaco in February and the CMT (Caravan Motor Tourism) in Stuttgart in January, Sardinia continues to take Germany by storm. As a matter of fact, Sardinia’s “German campaign” continues in May with Imex Frankfurt. The ITB is a fundamental stop for anyone wishing to promote tourism in Germany, the largest foreign for Sardinia operators with over 500.000 visitors in 2015 (+13% compared to 2014). “This is a central event for the sector, as it represents the most important tourist business platform worldwide, featuring one of the highest satisfaction index for exhibitors. The whole world of travel is currently in Berlin, hoping to catch a glimpse of how this season will go,” explains Regional Councilor Francesco Morandi. The 2016 fair also marks the 50th edition of the initiative, gathering some 10,000 exhibitors from 185 countries from all continents, of which 850 top qualified buyers. There are 23,000 visits planned for the convention, 50,000 from private individuals and 115,000 from the commercial sector, which will engage in 190,000 meetings (almost 40.000 events per day). Estimates claim the event generates a turnover of €6.7 billion. In Berlin, 30 Sardinia operators will represent all categories, especially reception structures (hotels, residences, villages and houses), but also tourist services, associations and consortia, tour operators and service companies, all accredited with the Department of Tourism, Handicraft and Commerce. Together, the operators will display their unique offer, especially prepared for the occasion and branded under the symbol of “Sardegna Endless Island,” which accompanies the island’s positioning on international markets.
