(29 March 2016) From “Il maestro di Vigevano” (1963) to “Indagine su un cittadino al di sopra di ogni sospetto” there are several milestones that Elio Petri contributed to the history of cinema. The Roman director (1929 -1982) will be the star of Barcelona this April, thanks to the temporary exhibition “Elio Petri, images of an author”, which will be inaugurated at the Italian Cultural Institute of the Catalan city on April 5. The exhibition – which will close at the end of the month – is curated by Paola Pegoraro Petri, wife of Elio Petri, and Antonia Naim, journalist and film programmer. The showcase includes posters, photographs and directing materials such writings, letters and telegrams belonging to the Petri Fund, created by the wife of the deceased director and donated in part to the Museum of Cinema in Turin. In parallel with the exhibition at the Institute, there is a film retrospective on Petri, with particular attention to one of his favorite actors and friends, Gian Maria Volonte, at the Filmoteca de Catalunya.
