(April 1, 2016) It kicked off yesterday in Belgrade and will close its doors on April 7th (at the Yugoslav Film Archive, Uzun Mirkova 1) the seventeenth International festival of Archaeological Film, organized by the National Museum in Belgrade in cooperation with the city’s Italian Culture Institute. The ICI is, in fact, one of the main promoters of the event since its first edition. The exhibition – as stated on the website of the Institute – offers industry experts and the general public of fans the opportunity to learn about the latest products in the field of archeology. In particular, the Italian Cultural Institute in Belgrade participates in the 17th edition of the festival by supporting and promoting the presentation of documentaries, in Italian with subtitles in Serbian, dedicated to different places and times of the rich italian archaeological heritage. The first documentary that will be screened in Belgrade (Saturday, April 2) is “Verona Open City: Discovering the Roman city”: a Verona Archaeological Studies Center video-pilot project dated last year – with the support of the Veneto Region and the Province of Verona, in collaboration with the Archaeological Superintendence of Veneto – Marcello Peres and Nicola Tagliabue. It is a technological video documentary in three dimensions (air, surface and ground) dedicated to the system of urban Roman times the city of Verona. Using a more technical language than in television, aerial photography and hand-free animations, the documentary covers the most universally recognized Roman monumental evidence (the Arena, the Roman Theatre, the Stone Bridge, the Gavi Arch and the monumental gates ) completing the organic understanding of this historic phase with a fresh eye to the underground Verona.
