Jerusalem – A memorandum will be signed in Rome on Wednesday between the General Inspectorate of the State Forestry Corps and the Foundation Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael Italy Onlus (KKL) – the oldest environmental organization in the world, founded in 1901 – in order to promote new forms of connection and cooperation. The protocol provides for the establishment of an area dedicated to the State Forestry Corps on Mount Carmel, a symbolic place for both the Jewish and Christian religions, the green lung of Israel which has suffered a fire in 2010 and is currently being re-established. A monument will also be built in the area to promote the issues of the environmental nature and as a sign of brotherhood among peoples. The reproduction of the same monument will also be placed in an Italian protected area. The protocol promotes new forms of cooperation in scientific, technical and spatial planning, research projects for the preservation of biodiversity and forest resources, as well as training programs, education and organizing events. The agreement provides for the establishment of pilot projects which relate to areas of outstanding environmental value through reciprocal hospitality meetings. Cesare Patrone, head of the State Forestry Corps and Meir Spiegler, director general KKL Israel will sign the protocol. Raffaele Sassun, President of KKL Italy, will also make a speech as part of the event. (9Colonne)
