Tehran – Italian banking group Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) is participating in the ongoing mission of the Italian government in Iran, which is being led by Prime Minister Matteo Renzi. In a press release, CDP, together with its subsidiaries SACE and Simest, stated their commitment to helping support Italian exports to Iran, with a comprehensive series of financial instruments. The first of these is 4 billion euro in credit lines for Iranian sovereign counterparties, through CDP Export finance and with the support of other lenders. This initiative is designed to back large projects in the infrastructure, oil & gas, and transport sectors that have been awarded to large Italian companies, and which involve significant participation from Italian Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) suppliers. The second is a 4 billion euro guarantee on these lines from SACE, with the support of Simest to stabilize interest rates. The last is an 800 million euro facility to support the re-entry of Italian SMEs into Iran. (9colonne)
