Santiago. Enel, through its subsidiary Enel Green Power Chile, has completed and connected the Los Buenos Aires to the grid. It’s the Group’s first wind farm in the Bío Bío Region in Chile. The Los Buenos Aires Wind Farm, located in Los Angeles 500 kilometres south of Santiago, has a capacity of 24 MW and can generate more than 86 GWh per year, the equivalent of the annual consumption of about 40,000 Chilean families, avoiding the release of more than 41,000 tons of CO2 in the atmosphere each year. The realisation of the project, which is supported by a long-term power sale agreement (PPA), required an investment of approximately $55million funded by the Enel Group’s resources. Electricity produced from Los Buenos Aires will be fed into the grid of the central region of Chile (Sistem Interconectado Central). (9colonne)
