(May 16,2016) Carabinieri Task Force instructors have trained and shaped more than 800 members of the Iraqi police forces for about two months in Baghdad and have recently completed their round of a training. At Camp Dublin in Baghdad, 550 policemen from 12 different Iraqi provinces and 268 policemen from the 4th Brigade of Baghdad Federal Police, took part in the closing ceremony (graduation ceremony) of the 4th “Law and Order” course and 21st “Police”. The First Counsellor of the Italian Embassy to Iraq has highlighted the excellent results achieved by the students and the delicate role they will have in controlling the territory of the country once they return to their parent departments. The two courses were focused on eight training modules concerning tactical issues typical to the police including human rights, professional ethics, public order, territory control, communications, policing, inspection and evidence collection at the crime scene, medical first aid and contrast improvised explosive devices (C-IED). After the ceremony, the Iraqi police simulated some practical activities of public order; the arrest of a dangerous terrorist and the remediation of a building which have demonstrated the high level of skills and preparation achieved by Iraqi personnel.
