(May 19, 206) Within the framework of the “Improvement of the conditions of detention in Lebanese prisons” project, May 23 in the Roumieh prison in Lebanon, a game of football in between a team of young detainees and the Italian Agency Cooperation and Development Team in Beirut. The president of the National Coaches Association Renzo Ulivieri will referee the match and participate in the subsequent press conference. The event is organized by the Italian Embassy in Beirut, the Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development and the United Nations Office for Drug Control and Crime Prevention (UNODC). The initiative “Improving the conditions of detention in Lebanese prisons” will support the Lebanese government in the judicial reform process, in order to improve living conditions in state prisons and intends to intervene in the central Roumieh prison, where inmates are suffering lack of essential services. Funded with €700,000 the project is promoted by UNODC in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Interior Lebanese. (Sip)
