Colombo – The Italian Cooperation has arranged a multilateral emergency contribution of €200,000 to support UNICEF activities in Sri Lanka, in light of the serious emergency situation emerged in the country after cyclone Roanu. Thanks to Italy’s funding the provisions of basic necessities, temporary shelter for displaced persons and specific interventions for water and sanitation will be guaranteed. In particular, the Italian contribution – defined in agreement with the Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development – will fund the implementation of outreach work in favor of the civilian population through the provision of drinking water in the worst affected areas as well as the distribution of hygiene kits and temporary toilets both at home and in the IDP camps set up by the Government.
