(24 May 2016) As part of the yearly events in Latin America, the Italian Embassy in Asuncion has organised in recent days – together with the Equestrian Federation of Paraguay and the Club Hipico Paraguayo – the second edition of the Italian Cup, a tournament in obstacle jumping with the participation of the best Paraguayan riders, from the beginner category (0.60 cm) to the most experienced (1.40 meters). Hundreds of athletes have particularly appreciated the initiative, which also seeks to support the work of many young people dedicated to this sport that is strongly rooted in local tradition. The winners of each category were awarded prizes donated by local representatives of various Italian brands. “The idea – according to a statement released by the Embassy – stems from the desire to work with the Paraguayan counterpart towards the diffusion of the sport to build a healthier society, a concept that is already at the basis of last year’s signing, of an greement of collaboration between our Coni and the Paraguayan counterpart and even more important this year in light of Rome’s official application to candidate itself to host the next Olympic games. ” (Red)
